Using Eliade’s writing on the mythic competition between National Socialism and Communism, Sartre and Maurice Merleau-Ponty and their quasi-religious conversion to the class struggle, and the Western defense of Communist atrocities as part of a redemptive vision, I talk about current violent radicalism as a crisis of political religion and the philosophy of history.
